Mary Blackstock has been an artist with a love of fashion since she was four years old. For a family trip, she packed her own bag with patent leather shoes, a quilted gold skirt, and favorite t-shirt. When the weather turned cooler during their holiday, her mom had to sew a jacket for her out of a blanket. It may have been her mom’s DIY spirit that inspired Mary, years later at age 16, to pursue her own design business selling hand-painted clothing to boutiques in New York, where her family had moved to from the San Francisco area.

From there, Mary followed her passion for the arts to Sarah Lawrence College, ultimately leading to a career in graphic design. After college, she returned to her first loves, launching a design business creating limited edition art prints and tote bags. After the birth of her daughter, Mary became inspired by a new passion. Yoga. She became a certified yoga teacher in 2010 and continues to teach kids, family, and prenatal yoga. Bringing all her passions together in one place, Lotus & Bug combines her love for fashion, graphics, yoga, and kids in a collaborative effort with dear friend and fellow artist, Joanne Baxter.
