Be Active for the New Year!

Part of the Lotus & Bug mantra is " Be Active." The new year is a beginning, the perfect time to make those resolutions to improve your health and well being. Why not get the whole family involved? There are simple ways to include your kids in your fitness routine - and have fun at the same time! Yoga is our activity of choice, we like to begin our family practice with some deep breaths together with a few minutes (or longer) of meditation, depending on your child's age. Then try some of the poses pictured above - twin oaks, twin dancers or double boat - or, make up your own! We always end by laying down, closing our eyes and relaxing in "savasana," final resting pose. If yoga is not your cup of tea, play a game that gets you moving like hopscotch or jump rope. If outdoors, go biking or hiking, or try your favorite winter sport with the kids. Most importantly, be active, be together and have some fun!
